CVE-2011-1269 is a security vulnerability in Microsoft PowerPoint that was addressed in the MS11-036 security update. This vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted PowerPoint file. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the logged-on user, with users having fewer user rights being less impacted. The update resolves two privately reported vulnerabilities, including CVE-2011-1269. Installing and configuring Office File Validation (OFV) to prevent opening suspicious files can block attack vectors. The bulletin was initially published on May 10, 2011, with revisions in June 2011.
