CVE-2012-0002 is a critical vulnerability addressed by Microsoft security bulletin MS12-020. This issue affects Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and could allow remote code execution if an attacker sends a sequence of specially crafted RDP packets to an affected system. Proof-of-concept code demonstrating denial of service has been publicly released, though Microsoft has not confirmed public code for remote code execution. The security update MS12-020 protects against attempts to exploit this vulnerability. Microsoft also provided a one-click Fix It tool to help mitigate risk for customers who cannot immediately deploy the update. Administrators are urged to apply MS12-020 as soon as possible to protect their systems.
