dedicated memory
About this tag
Dedicated memory refers to video memory (VRAM) that is physically reserved for a graphics card, separate from system RAM. On WindowsForum.com, users discuss dedicated memory in the context of laptop graphics, particularly when using dxdiag to check video memory. Common issues include dedicated video memory being too low (e.g., 32 MB) for gaming or demanding applications like Photoshop and AutoCAD, or being reported as 0 MB on netbooks. Users seek ways to increase dedicated memory, often finding no BIOS option to adjust it. Shared system memory is also discussed, with some wanting to reduce it after a RAM upgrade. The tag covers troubleshooting dedicated vs. shared memory on Intel integrated and NVIDIA graphics.
