dhcpv6
About this tag
DHCPv6 is the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6, used to assign IPv6 addresses and configuration parameters to clients. On WindowsForum.com, discussions cover DHCPv6 client issues where Windows machines fail to obtain an IPv6 address from a DHCPv6 server, often due to duplicate DUIDs or misconfiguration. Users also explore setting up DHCPv6 on Windows Server 2012 R2 for local network IPv6 support, including requesting additional prefixes and assigning static IPv6 addresses. Common error logs in Event Viewer, such as repeated DHCPv6-client errors, are frequently reported and troubleshooting steps are shared. The tag encompasses both server-side configuration and client-side resolution of DHCPv6 problems in Windows environments.
