Direct guest join is an interoperability feature in Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows that enables two-way joining between Microsoft Teams and Google Meet meetings. This direct guest join capability allows Teams Rooms hardware to enter Google Meet sessions directly, while compatible Google Meet devices can join Microsoft Teams meetings without requiring laptops, cables, browser tabs, or third-party bridges. The feature addresses a common point of friction in mixed-platform conference rooms by simplifying the process for hosts. According to Microsoft's Roadmap ID 562341, direct guest join is rolling out to general availability across Commercial, GCC, and GCC High environments, with general availability scheduled for July 2.
