disk properties
About this tag
Disk properties in Windows display used and free space for drives, but users sometimes encounter discrepancies where the reported space does not match the sum of visible files. Common issues include hidden system files, reserved space for recovery or system protection, and incomplete encryption or finalization processes. For example, a drive may show 100% free despite containing files, or the used space in properties may exceed the total of all folders. These problems often arise in Windows 7 and can be resolved by checking hidden items, adjusting folder options, or verifying drive formatting and encryption status.

I then thought to decrypt my data back and to disable the protection. When I tried doing this...

When I look at hard drive properties (My Computer) C: disk space is correct but D: and E: show 100% as free even though there are many files on the disk that show up if you open the drive. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit ASUS BIOS Ver 1701
Hi,
I have a question about how drive space is reported by Windows 7. I just installed an upgrade - custom - and have not installed a great deal of software yet. But I noticed kind of a disparity in the space available vs the space used.
I have a 140G HD notebook. The Windows folder shows...
