diskless servers

About this tag
Diskless servers are systems that boot and run an operating system from a centralized storage device rather than a local hard drive. In Windows environments, this often involves booting Windows Server images or virtual machines from a NAS or other shared storage. This approach can simplify management by eliminating the need to install an OS on each individual machine, instead running from a centralized disk. Common considerations include network boot protocols, storage performance, and compatibility with Windows Server versions like 2012. The tag covers discussions on setting up diskless servers for Windows workloads, focusing on centralized boot and storage solutions.

Diskless Servers Booting VM OS From NAS

Hi all, Is there anyway to have a diskless server boot a Windows server image/VM from a NAS? Or is it possible to have an operating system like Windows Server 2012 not installed each individual machine? Instead running from a centralized disk storage.
