My doom game on steam was playing at 2560 x1440 an now it play at 640 x 480 And I tried to change my resolution but it still wouldn’t change

I just installed it on a machine for the hell of it. Problem is the computer is a HP Pavilion a343v and it came with XP so I can't find any drivers on the HP site that are compatible with it. The resolution is super big so is there a stand VGA driver I can get?

What's the dealie with OpenGL in Windows Vista? I notice some games work flawlessly. But some just don't work (Quake4), must use Software (GZDoom Doom port) or play like a slideshow (Doom Legacy Doom port). I'd like to know what MS has done to it! :(
