dragging problems
About this tag
Dragging problems on Windows can occur when a mouse registers unintended double-clicks instead of a single click-and-hold, making it nearly impossible to drag-select text, files, or URLs. This issue may persist across multiple mice, indicating a system-level cause rather than a faulty device. In one reported case, the problem began after upgrading to a new ASUS P8P67 motherboard and Intel i5-2500K processor. Troubleshooting steps typically include checking mouse driver settings, adjusting double-click speed in Windows mouse properties, testing with a wired mouse, and inspecting for software conflicts or hardware interference. If the issue affects all mice, the root cause is likely software or system configuration related.
