drive offline
About this tag
The tag 'drive offline' covers scenarios where users manually take a storage drive offline in Windows, often to troubleshoot boot errors or high disk activity. In Hyper-V, taking a physical drive offline in Disk Manager can cause VM boot failures when the drive is attached as a SCSI device, even though the VM boots fine without it. In other cases, users take a drive offline to stop it from showing 100% active time in Resource Monitor, possibly due to antivirus software constantly accessing the drive. The tag reflects practical troubleshooting steps involving offline/online drive states in Windows Disk Management.
