About this tag
Discussions about duplicate names on WindowsForum.com focus on unexpected file naming conflicts, such as when renaming photos results in multiple files sharing the same number or label. Users report encountering duplicate names in folders where each file should have a unique identifier, often while organizing images or documents. The tag covers troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve these duplicates, including manual renaming, using batch rename tools, and checking for file system or software glitches that cause the issue. Common themes include Windows File Explorer behavior, third-party renaming utilities, and best practices to prevent accidental duplicates. The tag does not cover broader topics like network shares or database records unless explicitly mentioned in the content.
