About this tag
Microsoft Entra Cloud Sync is a synchronization service that bridges on-premises Active Directory with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD). In the context of Exchange hybrid deployments, a recent public preview enables writeback for cloud-managed remote mailboxes, allowing Exchange Online to push selected attributes back into on-premises AD through Entra Cloud Sync. This development is significant for organizations looking to decommission their last Exchange Server, as it reduces the dependency on on-premises Exchange for attribute management. The tag covers discussions around this preview, the mechanics of writeback, and the broader implications for hybrid Exchange shops aiming to simplify their infrastructure.
