error 0x6b

About this tag
The error 0x6B, also known as PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED, is a Windows 7 stop code that appears as a blue screen of death (BSOD) during boot. Based on community discussions, this error often prevents normal startup but may allow Safe Mode to load. Users have reported that Startup Repair, System Restore, and manual file replacements (such as bootcat.cache or ntdll.dll) frequently fail to resolve the issue. Common troubleshooting steps attempted include deleting or replacing bootcat.cache in the CodeIntegrity folder, running chkdsk and sfc /scannow, and using Recovery Console commands. However, these methods do not always succeed, and the error can persist despite multiple repair attempts. The error parameters vary, and the root cause may involve corrupted system files or driver initialization problems.

Windows 7 Windows 7 RC1 BSODs immediately after boot, error 0x6B

I just had my Windows 7 machine fail to start. It BSODs with "PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED 0x0000006B (0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0)" but is able to start when I invoke Safe Mode. Startup Repair and System Restore both failed to resolve the issue, and the installation did work before that.
