About this tag
Error 0x80070017 is a Windows installation and boot error commonly encountered during Windows 7 setup or startup. In the context of WindowsForum.com discussions, this error typically appears when Windows cannot install required files, often stalling at the expanding files stage, or when booting into an existing Windows installation becomes extremely slow. Users have reported this error on systems like iMacs running Windows via Boot Camp, as well as on standard PCs after deleting partitions and attempting a clean install. The error message indicates that files may be corrupt or missing. Troubleshooting steps discussed include checking the installation media for damage, ensuring the hard drive is properly formatted, and loading necessary drivers during installation.
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and I need help desperately!
I have Windows 7x64 boot camped on my Imac (Snow Leopard)
All is fine on the mac side but the windows side, not so much.
When I boot into windows it starts, the windows logo comes up.
Then the black screen with white cursor...
I deleted all my hard drive partitions and formatted my hard drive to wipe it clean. Now when I try to install Windows 7 onto my computer, the DVD boots and the installation begins. The installation will complete the "Copying windows files" task in seconds, but sticks at 0% on "Expanding files"...
