etl files
About this tag
ETL files are event trace log files used by Windows to record system performance and diagnostic data. In a discussion about a Windows 8 PC that boots very slowly, users analyze ETL files to identify the cause of the delay. The thread covers how to generate and interpret ETL files using tools like the Windows Performance Toolkit, focusing on boot-time events such as driver loading, service initialization, and disk activity. The goal is to pinpoint bottlenecks that cause the system to hang at the splash screen for over two minutes. Troubleshooting steps include examining ETL traces for excessive seek times on hard drives or misconfigured services, helping users optimize boot performance on Windows 8 systems.
i just built this PC and win8 is taking an extremely long time to boot up. it gets stuck at the windows splash screen (see pic) for slightly over 2 minutes each time (i timed it). i've fully updated windows (see pic) along with drivers for all hardware.
