experience score

About this tag
The experience score is a Windows performance rating that evaluates key hardware components such as processor, memory, graphics, gaming graphics, and hard disk data transfer rate. On Windows 7 and Vista, the base score is determined by the lowest subscore, which can highlight system bottlenecks. Users have reported low scores for hard drives even when transfer rates appear adequate, suggesting possible issues with partitioning or free space. Others have asked whether software tweaks can improve scores without hardware upgrades, though the rating is primarily hardware-dependent. High CPU usage can also degrade the overall experience, but may not always be reflected in the score itself.

Windows 7 Improving Performance Scores on a 2007 Windows 7 Computer Without Hardware Upgrades

Windows 7 Low Hard Drive Experience Score

Windows Vista CPU at 100% - maxed out processor

System specs: Athlon XP 2100 (1.7 Ghz) 1GB DDR Radeon 9000 (Powercolor) built in 100 LAN, AC97 Situation: Installing Vista took about an hour. I'm seriously! Booting into the desktop is painfully slow. Task Manager shows the CPU spiked to 100%, but on closer inspection, no process in the list...
