Eye Contact is a Windows Studio Effects feature that uses AI and NPU acceleration to adjust a user's gaze during video calls, making it appear as if they are looking directly at the camera. Originally limited to built-in front cameras on Copilot+ PCs, Microsoft has expanded Eye Contact to work with external USB webcams and rear laptop cameras in recent Windows 11 Insider Preview builds. The feature is part of the broader Windows Studio Effects suite, which includes Auto Framing, Background Blur, and Voice Focus. Eye Contact was first introduced on the Surface Pro X and later made generally available for Windows 10 and 11 devices with compatible hardware, such as those powered by Snapdragon processors.
