file authority
About this tag
The file authority tag on WindowsForum.com covers user discussions about permission and access control issues in Windows, particularly after system changes like partitioning or dual-boot setups. A common problem involves losing authority over files from a previous Windows installation, such as when upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. These issues often stem from Windows security settings that restrict access to files owned by a different user account or operating system. The tag reflects troubleshooting scenarios where users seek to regain control over their data through permission adjustments or other fixes.
