About this tag
Discussions tagged with file changes on WindowsForum.com cover monitoring folders for new or modified files, triggering programs when changes occur, and understanding how backup utilities handle changed files. Users ask about watching a folder and running a program immediately upon receiving new files, with suggestions including services or scheduled tasks. Others inquire whether Windows 10 Backup copies unchanged files or only changed ones, and whether it copies individual changed files or entire folders. Capturing live changes to a text file without reopening it is another topic, as is troubleshooting issues where Windows Explorer does not reflect file changes made by other programs. Problems with saving edited files across Homegroup computers and Windows 7 Backup backing up all files every time instead of only new or changed files are also covered.

I used to use Windows Vista backup, and it wasn't perfect but it got the job done for me.
So now I've set up Windows 7 Backup to run once a week to an external hdd on a home server I have set up on my local network. So anyway, that all went well and it backed up the roughly 55 gigs I was...
