fixed ip

About this tag
Discussions about fixed IP addresses on WindowsForum.com cover scenarios where a static IP is assigned to a PC, such as for network stability or specific configurations. Users report issues like a normal user losing internet access while retaining local network connectivity, even when the admin user works fine with the same fixed IP and DNS settings. Troubleshooting often involves checking user permissions, network profiles, or firewall rules that may affect non-admin accounts. The tag is relevant for Windows networking, user account control, and resolving connectivity discrepancies between different user accounts on the same machine.

Windows 7 No internet access for "normal" user

I have a pc with 2 users. The pc has a fixed ip adress and dns settings. For the admin user everything works fine. I have access to the local network and to internet. The "normal" user suddenly doesn't has access to internet anymore, but does has acces to the local network. Any idea ?
