game detection

About this tag
Game detection on Windows refers to how the operating system and gaming platforms identify installed games. Windows 7's Games Explorer automatically detects many newly installed titles but may miss older games installed before the OS upgrade, as seen in user discussions. Compatibility issues can also affect detection, such as with GTA IV on Windows 7 x64 where the game is detectable but fails to launch properly. More recently, Microsoft's Gaming Copilot integrates AI into the Windows Game Bar to provide real-time assistance, though its impact on game detection is part of broader gaming enhancements. These threads highlight common challenges and solutions for game detection across different Windows versions.
