gibberish
About this tag
On WindowsForum.com, the tag 'gibberish' covers issues where text appears as unreadable or scrambled characters in various contexts. Common causes include file corruption in Microsoft Word documents, keyboard input problems on laptops like HP Pavilion, encryption or encoding mismatches after OS upgrades, and incorrect language or Unicode settings for non-Unicode programs. Users report gibberish in browsers, Windows search, and applications such as QuickBooks, as well as in Hebrew or Chinese text display. Troubleshooting often involves checking system locale settings, reinstalling language packs, or recovering files from backups. The tag reflects real-world problems with data integrity, input devices, and multilingual support on Windows systems.
Word 16 suddenly would not open a document I've been working on for a while. I get the error that it needs to be recovered. After I recovered it the file contents were gibberish. My question is how do word documents become corrupt? Can this be prevented?
I have an intermittent problem with the keyboard on my HP Pavilion laptop. More and more frequently the letters and numbers which appear are gibberish.......as if they are encrypted. The gibberish seems to appear only in browsers and the Windows search box. There seems to be nothing I can do...
