government digital service

Coverage of the UK Government Digital Service on WindowsForum.com centres on the organisation's shifting place within Whitehall. A tagged thread examines GDS being moved into the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, separating the team that sets cross-government digital delivery and procurement controls from the Cabinet Office's new AI leadership. The discussion focuses on the practical consequences for public-sector IT leaders, particularly whether GDS retains the authority to steer major cloud, software, data and legacy-modernisation decisions across government, and on warnings from former officials and think-tank figures that the reshuffle could push experienced staff out.
