About this tag
The hardware control tag on WindowsForum.com covers discussions about Microsoft's influence over hardware design and compatibility, particularly in Windows 8 tablets and Windows 7 installations. Topics include Microsoft pressuring chip manufacturers to limit partnerships for tablet builds, and issues with hardware control features like FN keys and AV mode not working after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 on Sony Vaio laptops. The tag also touches on broader debates about how OEM pre-installed software and lack of hardware control can affect user experience, with some suggesting Microsoft should build its own hardware for better integration.
