About this tag
The hero links tag covers SharePoint guidance on piloting mutable links before Microsoft’s planned August 2026 rollout. The discussion focuses on how editable links affect sharing, forwarded URLs, recovery options, navigation support, and governance. It considers where a single mutable link may reduce navigation tickets, while warning that changing a link’s scope can create a governance incident. The planned Hero Link experience spans SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 file experiences across the web, desktop, Android, iOS, and Mac. This archive is relevant to administrators evaluating link behavior, sharing controls, and operational readiness ahead of broader availability.
