hex numbers
About this tag
Discussions tagged with hex numbers on WindowsForum.com often involve identifying and managing folders or files whose names consist of long hexadecimal sequences. A common example is the appearance of many such folders under the AppData directory, where users question their purpose and whether they can be safely deleted. These hex-numbered folders are typically created by Windows or installed applications for caching or temporary storage, and they are usually empty. The tag covers troubleshooting steps for understanding these entries, including checking for associated processes and verifying that removal does not affect system stability. Users seeking clarity on hex-numbered system artifacts will find relevant community advice here.
Does anyone know what those folders whose names are long sequences of hex numbers enclosed with brackets are used for? I have hundreds of them in my AppData directory and a hankering desire to remove them all! None of them appear to have any files in them.
