Designed to work seamlessly across Windows 8 devices, IE10 in Metro mode offers a hardware-accelerated browsing engine, strong security, and support for HTML5 and web standards. This immersive version of IE was part of Microsoft's effort to reimagine browsing for touch interfaces, providing a distraction-free, app-like environment. Early builds of Windows 8 also hinted at an immersive PDF reader, further extending the Metro design philosophy to document viewing.
