About this tag
Discussions tagged with 'lan properties' on WindowsForum.com focus on troubleshooting network configuration issues, particularly when TCP/IP settings are missing or inaccessible from the Local Area Connection properties dialog. Common scenarios involve legacy Windows versions like XP, where after system recovery or driver changes, the TCP/IP option may not appear, preventing internet connectivity despite local network access. Users seek solutions to restore the TCP/IP properties entry, often involving Winsock resets, registry edits, or network stack repairs. The tag covers practical steps for diagnosing and fixing missing protocol entries in LAN properties, with emphasis on Windows networking fundamentals.
After restoring an old XP Home machine to initial state, I can't seem to connect to the internet. The machine is working fine with my workgroup (Win 7, 8.1 & 10 systems on that group), but TCP/IP doesn't show up in the LAN Properties.
