About this tag
The Dell Latitude D600 is an older laptop that users discuss in the context of performance limitations with modern operating systems and basic internet use. Common themes include struggles with Windows Vista and Windows 7 due to hardware constraints like a 1.6 GHz processor and limited RAM, as well as driver issues, particularly with the Radeon Mobility 9000 graphics card. Users explore solutions such as reverting to Windows XP or adjusting settings to improve responsiveness. The tag covers troubleshooting slow performance, driver compatibility, and operating system choices for this legacy hardware.
We picked up a Dell Latitude d600 at a flea market with the hopes of using it for simple surfing and email. No streaming, no editing, no development, just surfing. We were locked out by an admin pw, so I installed Vista with a disk I happened to have. It seems to work, but it is just waaaay...
Using an older Dell Latitude D600. 1.6ghz / 1.25 gb ram / Radeon Mobilty 9000
- Installation was a breeze (including the formating of the HD to install over XP)
- Driver support SEEMED spot on (more on that in a bit)
- It is at least as responsive & robust as XP (takes some getting used to tho)...
