lock symbol
About this tag
On WindowsForum.com, the lock symbol tag covers user discussions about a small lock icon appearing on files, folders, or Recycle Bin icons in Windows Explorer. Recurring themes include files with a lock symbol being invisible over a network or in Explorer, multiple Recycle Bins where some show a lock symbol and others do not, and permissions-related issues where the lock indicates restricted access. Users seek ways to remove the lock symbol or understand why it appears, often linking it to file ownership, encryption, or system protection settings.
