machine limitations
About this tag
Discussions tagged with 'machine limitations' on WindowsForum.com focus on the restrictions and allowances of Windows licensing when transferring an operating system to a new computer. A recurring theme is the distinction between retail and OEM licenses, particularly for users who upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Retail licenses historically permit moving the OS to a different machine, while OEM licenses are tied to the original hardware. Users share experiences with Microsoft support and seek guidance on how to legally transfer their license, especially after hardware upgrades. The tag covers practical troubleshooting around activation, license types, and the process of moving Windows between PCs.
