About this tag
The Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) is a free tool from Microsoft designed to help IT professionals assess the security state of Windows systems. It performs local or remote scans to identify missing security updates and common vulnerabilities. MBSA includes both graphical and command-line interfaces. Version 2.3 added support for Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2, while dropping support for Windows 2000. Earlier version 2.1.1 added support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, along with improved SQL Server checks and 64-bit installation. The tool is primarily intended for IT professionals but may also be used by advanced home users.
