merging volumes

About this tag
Merging volumes in Windows often involves combining adjacent partitions to enlarge the C: drive, especially when free space exists on another volume. In this thread, a user with a Toshiba laptop running Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) has a C: volume with only 3 GB free out of 39 GB. They attempted to add space from an F: volume (75.5 GB) using Disk Management but could not extend C: because the free space (34.1 GB) is not directly adjacent. The system partition layout shows System Reserved, C:, F:, free space, and Recovery. Common solutions include using third-party partition tools or moving the recovery partition to make free space contiguous.
