About this tag
Microstuttering is a performance issue where high frame rates are accompanied by brief, repeated stutters, making games feel unplayable despite good average FPS. On WindowsForum.com, users report microstuttering in games like Far Cry 2 and Crysis: Warhead, often linked to specific driver versions, V-Sync settings, or refresh rate mismatches. One thread describes extreme stuttering on high-end PCs due to the system outputting 59 Hz on a 60 Hz monitor, causing constant screen tearing. Troubleshooting steps include disabling power-saving features like C-states and core parking, testing different GPU drivers, and adjusting in-game frame rate limits. The tag covers real-world experiences with microstuttering on Windows, focusing on gaming performance and driver-related fixes.
