MS13-008 was a critical security update for Internet Explorer released by Microsoft on January 14, 2013, as part of Security Bulletin MS13-008. It addressed a publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer 6 through 8 that could allow remote code execution if a user viewed a specially crafted webpage. The update was released in response to Security Advisory 2794220 and targeted limited but ongoing attacks. Users with automatic updates enabled received the protection automatically, while manual updaters were strongly encouraged to apply the update.
