About this tag
MS16-144 is a critical security update for Internet Explorer released by Microsoft on December 13, 2016. This cumulative update resolves multiple vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer, the most severe of which could allow remote code execution if a user visits a specially crafted webpage. An attacker who successfully exploits these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user. If the current user has administrative rights, an attacker could take full control of the affected system, install programs, view or change data, or create new accounts. This update is part of Microsoft's regular security bulletin release cycle and is rated Critical for all supported versions of Internet Explorer.
