native images
About this tag
Discussions about native images on WindowsForum.com focus on the NativeImages folder located under C:\Windows\assembly. Users report issues such as the Temp subdirectory consuming large amounts of disk space, sometimes reaching 12 GB on 64-bit systems, and question whether this is caused by updates or normal operation. Other threads mention antivirus alerts detecting trojans in DLL files within the nativeimages folder, raising concerns about false positives versus actual malware. The tag covers troubleshooting related to native image storage, cleanup of Temp folders, and security alerts involving .NET native image caches.
An investigation of my 64bit Win 7 systems shows that the folder
C:\Windows\assembyl\NativeImages_v2.0.50727_64\Temp\
has almost 12 GB content. I have never seen such a big space occupation before (for a Windows "Temp")
directory. I must have bloated in the last weeks.
