I'm using Win8 pro.
Due to unknown circumstances the regular start icon for IE has disappeared from the desktop. I found it in all programs, but when I try to run it I get the following:

On starting my computer this morning I have noticed the CPU cooling fans running a little harder than I'm used to hearing when just using Firefox.
On looking at the task manager I have noticed that rather than sitting at the normal 0% CPU usage when idle a process labelled NTVDM.exe is...
When i start up my acer netbook, I get about five pop up messages that say The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal operation and the options 'close' or 'terminate' however if you click on either the message just pops back up again.
Can anyone help?
