numberingconfusion

About this tag
The numberingconfusion tag on WindowsForum.com captures user frustration with Microsoft's build numbering system, particularly during Windows development cycles. Discussions often question why builds jump from low numbers to high ones like 7600, and why Microsoft does not use simpler sequential labels. The tag reflects confusion over versioning logic, release candidate identification, and the perceived lack of transparency in build numbering. It is relevant for users tracking Windows Insider builds, beta releases, or final RTM builds who find the numbering scheme unintuitive. The tag aggregates threads where members seek clarification on how build numbers relate to development stages and official releases.
