About this tag
Obsidian is a popular note-taking and knowledge management application that uses a file-per-note, plugin-heavy approach, often described as a 'second brain.' Discussions on WindowsForum cover switching from Obsidian to alternatives like Joplin for open-source, offline-first needs, as well as using Git for advanced version control with Obsidian vaults. The tag also references Obsidian Entertainment, the game developer known for Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds 2, with threads discussing their stance against generative AI and praise from Todd Howard. Additionally, Obsidian appears in lists of essential Windows 11 power user apps and note-taking alternatives to Microsoft OneNote.

Trilium vs Obsidian on Windows: Cloned Notes, Nested Organization and Migration Test
For years, the note-taking wars have split into two camps. One camp likes OneNote-style notebooks with folders, sections and a toolbar you can click.
