About this tag
The onboard LAN tag covers discussions about integrated Ethernet controllers on motherboards, typically from Intel or Realtek. Common issues include the network adapter being detected as an unidentified public network with no internet access, often after sleep or hibernation. Users report problems with drivers, power management settings that disable the adapter, and installation errors related to onboard LAN during Windows 7 setup. Troubleshooting steps include releasing and renewing IP configurations, updating drivers, and adjusting power settings to prevent the adapter from being turned off. These threads focus on desktop PCs, especially older models like Acer Aspire, and involve Windows 7 and XP.
