open network
About this tag
The open network tag on WindowsForum.com covers issues related to wireless and wired networks that are configured without security or with unrestricted access. Common topics include Windows 7 automatically connecting to open wireless networks like BT Openzone, difficulties setting up a completely open workgroup network between Windows 7, Vista, and XP computers, and troubleshooting connectivity problems where a device connects to an open network but has no internet access. Users also seek ways to force Windows 7 to recognize a network as an open work type for file sharing without internet. The discussions focus on network settings, workgroup sharing, and overcoming Windows 7's restrictions on open network configurations.
