About this tag
The os lock tag on WindowsForum.com covers user-reported issues where Windows 10 Pro appears to lock file permissions after extended uptime, preventing deletion or modification of folders like Program Files until a reboot. This behavior, also observed in Windows 7, suggests a potential OS-level permission caching or lock mechanism that resets on restart. Discussions focus on troubleshooting permission changes that affect program installations and configuration file writes, with users seeking solutions to avoid rebooting. The tag is relevant for Windows 10 and 7 users experiencing similar permission lock problems.
