About this tag
The otvdm tag on WindowsForum.com covers discussion of OTVDM, also known as winevdm, an open-source project used to run 16-bit Windows programs on modern 64-bit Windows systems such as Windows 11. Tagged content explains why legacy applications built for Windows 1.x through 3.1 no longer run natively, since 64-bit versions of Windows do not include Microsoft's NTVDM component. Coverage focuses on practical workarounds for reviving old software and games, along with the limits of that approach. It is a narrow, compatibility-oriented tag for readers dealing with legacy 16-bit applications rather than general Windows troubleshooting.
