pae

About this tag
PAE (Physical Address Extension) is a feature that allows 32-bit Windows operating systems to access more than 4 GB of physical memory. Discussions on WindowsForum.com cover enabling PAE to address memory limitations, such as when a 32-bit system reports less usable RAM than installed. Users also encounter PAE in the context of virtual machines, where enabling PAE/NX is necessary for certain guest operating systems. Additionally, PAE-related kernel files like ntkrnlpa.exe appear in system configurations and crash dump analysis. Troubleshooting topics include boot loader settings to force PAE enablement and compatibility issues with hardware or virtualization software.
