panes
About this tag
The tag 'panes' on WindowsForum.com covers two distinct areas: terminal multiplexing in modern tools like tmux and Windows Terminal, and navigation pane issues in Windows Explorer. In terminal contexts, panes enable split-screen multitasking within a single window, allowing users to run multiple shells side by side for improved productivity. Windows Terminal supports split panes for PowerShell, CMD, and WSL. In Windows Explorer, the navigation pane (left pane) is a common source of troubleshooting threads, with users reporting missing favorites, libraries, or folders, as well as unexpected scrolling behavior. These threads focus on restoring or fixing the navigation pane in older Windows versions like Windows 7.
Tmux turns a single terminal into a full multitasking workspace, letting you run, manage, and persist multiple shells from one connection so long-running jobs don’t force you to keep a window open or interrupt your workflow.

Lately when I open Windows Explorer, the pane on the left only lists "Favorites" and "Libraries" with magnifying glass on each as if it is searching. It does not list the contents of those folders and does not list "computer" or "network". I have to restart to get those things back. What gives?
There should be an arrow which is used to expand the favorite links in the navigation pane on the left. Interestingly, it shows nothing if i expand the favorites. It was working few days before. Dont know why how this cud happen?
Could anyone help on that! MANY THANKS!!!!!
when I expand a folder in the left pane of WE it moves the list to the bottom of the pane (most of the time) so that I have to scroll up to see what the sub folders are.
