About this tag
Path MTU Discovery is the mechanism that lets Windows and network devices agree on the largest packet size a route can carry without fragmentation. On WindowsForum.com, the tag gathers practical guidance for Windows 11 and Windows 10 users who hit the classic symptoms of a broken path MTU: most traffic works, but specific sites stall, VPN sessions connect yet misbehave, or pages load halfway and stop. The tagged content walks through testing MTU with ping and adjusting it with Netsh, covering Ethernet, Wi-Fi, VPN, PPPoE, and tunnel scenarios where the usual 1500-byte MTU no longer fits the path.
