Power8 is a free, open-source start menu replacer designed for Windows 8. Developed by a small team, it aims to restore the traditional Start menu experience on Windows 8, while also being compatible with Windows XP and Windows 7. The software is available for download as a 7z archive. Users should note a known startup issue when C-Media drivers are installed, for which a hotfix was planned. The project is hosted on Google Code and invites community evaluation and feedback.
