premium volumes

The premium volumes tag on WindowsForum.com collects discussion of high-performance storage tiers, most visibly Microsoft's Azure NetApp Files Premium and Ultra service levels. The tagged coverage centers on the general availability of the cool access enhancement, which replaced a fixed throughput penalty with a limit that scales according to how much of each volume's data has actually moved to the cool tier. For storage administrators running mixed hot and cold workloads, that shift changes capacity and performance planning. The thread also notes Microsoft's Launched label, meaning the feature is fully released and production-ready for all Azure customers.
