About this tag
The preview issue tag on WindowsForum.com covers problems with file previews and thumbnails not displaying correctly in Windows. A common scenario involves USB drives attached to a NAS where thumbnails fail to generate after a short period, while local and other network files preview normally. This issue has been reported on Windows 7 64-bit systems, with folder options like 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' being a potential factor. Discussions focus on troubleshooting preview failures, comparing behavior across multiple machines, and identifying settings or drivers that affect thumbnail generation. The tag is relevant for users experiencing inconsistent or missing previews in File Explorer.
